Spring Activities are not hard to come by in Rexburg, you just need time to do them all! Now that Spring is here to stay, it’s time to get outside and enjoy the warmth while it lasts! Here are 5 different activities you can do in Rexburg and surrounding areas.
Star Gazing
One nice thing about living in Rexburg is that you do not have to travel far to see the stars. Instead, all you need to do is travel outside of the city about 15-20 minutes. Starting the first week of May, the moon will be smaller and you should be able to see the Milky Way across the night’s sky. You can check out the moon phases here to see which nights are the best for star gazing. This will become one of your favorite spring activities.
Tin Foil Dinner
Sick of fast food and leftovers? It’s time to change things up! This is one of our favorite spring activities. In order to make a yummy tinfoil dinner you will need to have tin foil, meat, potatoes, carrots, onions and seasoning. Put all of these ingredients together and make sure they are completely wrapped in tin foil. Place each meal on hot coals from the fire and let them cook for about 30 minutes or until tender. Whether you make your own fire or use a fire pit at Beaver Dick Park, just remember to invite friends and bring food!
17 Mile Cave
Who doesn’t love an adventure? 17 Mile Cave is the perfect place to go and no it is not seventeen miles long. Located past the Idaho Falls airport, 17 Mile Cave is a hidden treasure. Driving to the cave, you will find that it is on a dirt field off the side of the road. Park your car and walk down in through the cave opening. You will see that the cave really opens up once you get through the opening. Have fun exploring through the cave and don’t forget to bring a flashlight.
Bike Riding
What’s a better way to get outside and enjoy the fresh air than a bike ride through town? Whether it’s a single person bike or a tandem bike, grab your friends and explore the great outdoors. If you don’t have access to a bike, no worries, you can find many different places to rent bikes for a couple hours or even a day! Check out the ORC on campus for bike rentals.
Have a Bonfire
Friends, firewood and food is all you need to have a successful bonfire! Once the sun goes down, it’s the perfect time to sit around the warm fire and make s’mores. Don’t forget to bring marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers. You can also roast hot dogs and Starbursts. Enjoy the outdoors while you make memories with family and friends.
